Marketing by accident

LITERALLY - and figuratively at the same time.

1. Last Wed. Shayna and I went to the office about an hour before girl scouts (so maybe 6ish) so I could do some work and she could do her AR reading. It was a drab very rainy day. After parking and as we walked up the steps towards the front door, we noticed there was an accident that had just happened right in front of the office on Knights Rd.

I saw a lady standing in the rain getting soaked, her hair was all wet. So I asked if she was the driver of the car- YES, and did she need help, did she want me to call the police - YES...she doesn't have a cell phone. She asked if she could use my phone. I offered her to come inside. So I go inside and call 911 and report the accident. Then go back outside and tell her I called and the police are on thier way. She comes inside and uses the phone.

It turns out she works at the Medical Office just down the street on the corner of Knights & Street Rd. - for an internal doctor. So I tell her what I do (about US Life Care).

She goes back outside, and I go to work. Maybe 15 minutes later she comes back in to call her husband. I go in the middle office and give her privacy (and I needed to finish my billing before leaving for girl scouts.)

After she finishes the call, I talk to her. I wind up giving her a business card and she promises to help me out (by referring patients/customers).

So I really hope I can get some referrals.

2. I called Jan, Ariel's mom tonight (Monday) for 2 reasons. One, I have been meaning to call her just to chat and catch up, and two, I needed to get my insurance agent, Roger Boatwright's phone number, because his # was disconnected and apparently he no longer works for Pharmacists Mutual, and I am trying to get different insurance. Jan's sister is married to Bruce Sigman, who I know is good friends with Roger Boatwright. We used to do business with Bruce when he still owned his pharmacy- we would send him our nebulizer pts. for thier medication.

so in the conversation somehow I find out that the place she works- nursing home in willow grove- sometimes sends pts. home. I had thought before since it was a nursing home that she couldn't help me- we can't bill pts. in nursing homes. ANYWAY- turns out there are 2 social workers there and they are the ones who arrange for the pts. when they go home and need medical equipment or oxygen. So I am sending in 2 business cards with Shayna to school. she will give thme to Ms. Welch at SIP (gifted) and ms. Welch will give them to Ariel who will then give them to her mom, who will then bring them into work and give them to the 2 social workers, who will then hopefully send me patients.

I also got Bruce's phone number. I called and spoke with Barbara (her sister) and Barbara gave me Roger's #..which I then called and left a message.
